Kicks for Kids
Kicks for Kids is an initiative by Death Run Society aimed at ensuring that students have access to suitable and brand-new athletic shoes for daily activities. When a student is experiencing discomfort caused by ill-fitting or worn-out shoes, our program addresses the child's basic need of footwear.
Our goal is to provide students with shoes that they can comfortably wear every day for all of their adventures, activities, and while learning in their classrooms.
What is Kicks for Kids?
Who Qualifies for Kicks for Kids?
To be eligible, students (Pre-K through High School Seniors) must be attending a rural public school district in one of the following Northwestern Oklahoma counties:
Alfalfa, Beaver, Blaine, Cimarron, Custer, Dewey, Ellis, Harper, Major, Roger Mills, Texas, Woods, and Woodward.
Students must be referred by school administrators and/or local law enforcement.
The Process
When a school administrator, school resource officer, or local law enforcement notice a child wearing damaged or worn-out shoes, they can contact Death Run Society's Kicks for Kids. To ensure the child's privacy, we only ask for minimal information. This includes the child's foot measurements, their ability to tie shoes, their gender, favorite color(s), and any other factors that can help us find the perfect shoe for them. Once we receive a referral from the school, we begin searching for a new athletic shoe that fits the child perfectly based on their measurements and abilities. We also make an effort to find a shoe in their preferred color(s). Once we purchase the shoes, we deliver them to the school's referring administration, who then distribute the shoes to the child.
How Can I Help?
Monetary donations are crucial for us to be able to respond promptly to the needs of a child when a school sends us a referral.
By liking and following us on social media, you can stay updated on our mission and help us reach more people, and share our mission with others to spread awareness and increase support.
If you come across a child in a public school in Northwest Oklahoma who is in need of new shoes, take action and say something. Inform a school administrator about the situation and refer them to Kicks for Kids, or provide us with the name of the school the child attends and the child's age and/or grade and we will take care of the rest.
